Well, last weekend was pretty outrageous….my plan was to ride my nice mountain bike to the Panda Bear Breeding Research Base which is about 25 – 30 km from my apartment.? But, I had to stop at my bank to get some cash (had to buy some Snicker’s bars).? I locked my bike to a pole right in front of this big bank with glass window front wall and 3 outside security cameras.? I was in the bank for 10 minutes and came out….OOOPS! my bike was gone… I found out that there is no such thing as a safe lock of ANY kind.? My nice thick cable could have been 10 inches thick.? They stuck a tool right into my key hole and broke open the lock.
Of course I got a little upset.? Everyone tried to help me.? The people in the bank called the police.? They came, picked me up and took me to their station.? As we are filling out the forms, my nose starts bleeding like crazy.? They called an ambulance.? My blood pressure was 195/105!? I think I was VERY pissed off!? I was taken to the hospital emergency room and checked out.? Of course I was OK.? And they charged me NOTHING.? Sort of like our hospitals (not!)…
Anyway, now I get to buy another bike.? I have learned that you buy a used Chinese bike to ride around town and to work.? A used bike is very expensive:? 100 Yuan? ($14.70).? Okay, so maybe it’s not expensive.? I would have to pay up to 200 Yuan ($29.41) for a new bike, but that would just get stolen.? So now I am an official resident. Everyone gets their bike stolen.? I have a Chinese friend here who has had 1 bike stolen every year for the last 10 years!? So when it comes to my new truly expensive road bike which is being shipped to me next week…that one will only be parked with me sitting on top of it!
The work for my charity organization, GIVING HAND  is going very well.  So many people want to help us find international corporations to donate product and all the charities are excited about Getting the product.  The American Consulate is helping me to connect with every American corporation here in Sichuan Province… 170 American Companies!  Can you believe that?    So things are hopefully moving along well.

来自美国的Bobbi在成都做慈善事业,她表示:应该废除死刑,一死了之的方式太便宜了那些残酷的罪犯,应该让他们的后半生都在罪恶的煎熬中度过,况且,死刑让误判的人失去了平反的机会;

在某大型外企工作的程序师Lily着急了:如果废除了死刑,那些有钱有权的人就更容易设法脱身了;

骑自行车的佛教徒妙悟居士Hans观点独特:Lily说的属于执法是否严格的范畴,死刑对遏制犯罪可能有反作用,罪犯杀了一个人,反正都要死,不如多杀点,“杀人抵命”也不够啊,不如改用数学方式,比如给一个人的生命定价,杀人犯则要劳作一生来偿还债务;

世界语者Xujie的猜测很有趣:中国老一辈的人都比较赞成死刑,有关数据显示,中国是世界上执行死刑犯最多的国家,而此次废除的都是经济相关罪死刑,普通人可没机会去范哦;

做游戏设计的Chandler:老一辈赞成死刑,这或许是中国传统观念作祟,自古就有这么一句话,“不死不足以平民愤”;

"Death is a relief. It's too kind for the criminals to let them die after what they had done. They should live and suffer all the rest of their lives. Over and above,what if it's a miscarriage of justice?"
--Bobbi,running a charitable organization
"The population in China is very big, maybe to kill some legally is a solution."
--Lucky, white collar worker
"It's not fair if a criminal killed more than one person but die only once.Punitive measures have to be taken on criminals for the victims' sake, but mathematics is better than death penalty."
--Hans,Cyclist
"Standing in the goverment's shoes, they'll have trouble if there are too many criminals in the prison. They have to spend more money in building and managing cellrooms rather than focus on economy development."
--Song,from Language Forest
"Due to statistics, the number of people died of death penalty in China is the number one worldwide. Under the influence of killing bad people traditon,the older generation in China are more positive towards death penalty."
